AntiVirus and Malware Issues - Anti Virus 360 / 2008 / 2009

Antivirus 360 (aka: AntiVirus 2008 or 2009) is a rogue anti-spyware program that uses false scan results and aggressive advertising in order to promote itself. It is actually a Trojan known as Trojan:Vundo

What this programs does:
This rogue is advertised by the Vundo Trojan and is replacing the Antivirus 2009 rogue program that Vundo has been aggressively advertising. If you are infected with the Vundo Trojan you will see a large amount of pop-ups stating that your computer is infected and that you should install Antivirus 360 in order to protect yourself. If you click on the ad, Antivirus 360 will be downloaded to your computer and you will be prompted to install it. (read more...)

Wiki Info on Trojan Vundo: Antivirus 2009 (aka Antivirus 360), is another phony antivirus program. Don't confuse Antivirus 360 with the legitimate Norton Antivirus 360 product. Your PC usually gets infected with Antivirus 360 when you install a video codec that comes with a Trojan, malware or virus. You can also get infected with Antivirus 360 by visiting malicious websites. Once your PC is infected, your screen will be bombarded with security alert pop ups saying that your computer is infected. This scam tactic is done in order to try to trick you into buying the sham Antivirus 360 program. (read more...)

Symantec Security Response has developed a removal tool to clean the infections of Trojan.Vundo. This is the preferred method in most cases.

Note: CyberSprockets HardDrive Shop has determined that the best response to an already infected system is to back up all data (Docs, Pics, Music, E-mail, etc.) to an external drive, completely wipe the system (FDISK / Reformat / Reinstall) and then reinstall your system operating system (Windows) and Applications (Quickbooks / Outlook/ PhotoShop, etc.) and then import your data back into your system. This process takes anywhere from 2 - 6 hours. It is something you can do yourself, but if you prefer, CyberSprockets can do it for you. Cost depend on your system configuration and run anywhere form $75 to $125. This will ensure a clean system and, in nearly all cases, restore the speed and "snap" you enjoyed when you first purchased it. Call or Email CyberSprockets to discuss your options or to schedule an appointment.

If you are confident that your system is clean of all malware, we recommend installing GRISOFT's Internet Security Suite for the most complete protection.
